Certified Applicators of ProCoat

The field of acoustical ceiling restoration is constantly expanding.  More and more architects are turning to ProCoat to specify both a certiffied applicator and the ProCoat product.  This presents significant opportunities to those contractors who have been trained in the field of acoustical ceiling restoration … particularly Certified Applicators of ProCoat.

Contractors who wish to become active in this field must first gain an appreciation for the skills that are required to satisfy the market’s expectations. For some, it may not be “their cup of tea.” For others, it will be a natural fit.  In addition to receiving projects through ProCoat’s national contract services program, Certified Applicators have a leg up where ceiling restoration project requirements are that the installer be certified.  This eliminates those contractors not certified, and, provides an added service and revenue stream for their own business.

When trained in our system, the CERTIFIED APPLICATOR will have the ability to provide a high degree of efficiency in area preparation, spraying and masking removal and, in a cost-effective manner.

The Certification Process - In order for a contractor to obtain certification, they must have been trained for and demonstrated competence on a variety of projects. Our PMs must have confidence that projects will be done professionally, on time, within budget, and with extreme attention to detail.

To gain this confidence, the contractor will have been introduced to the latest tools and techniques on an actual ceiling restoration project by a ProCoat trainer.  After the instruction, additional jobs must be done by the contractor to expand the breadth of experience.  During this period, the contractor is referred to as a Preferred Applicator.  Then, once the contractor’s trainer feels that it is appropriate, he can nominate them for designation as a Certified Applicator of ProCoat.

Certification is not permanent - There are instances when certification is not renewed should the CERTIFIED APPLICATOR fail to continue to follow the prescribed ProCoat methods or fail to continue to meet our requirements.

Dealing with the Cost - Obviously, there are expenses incurred and for the most part, they are the responsibility of the contractor.  Those expenses include the trainer’s time and travel.  ProCoat does not wish to earn a profit on training, but it does appreciate that the contractor is the greatest beneficiary of what they will learn and that they should be prepared to underwrite expenses related to that education.

In Summary - CERTIFIED APPLICATOR is the result of a very selective process and is generally viewed as a form of professional recognition that sets the applicator apart from the rest. Contact us to find out more information on how to be a CERTIFIED APPLICATOR.
